Travel, Things To Do, What to Bring
Travel

We use three airports when we travel, depending on what connections and ticket prices we can secure. Daytona Beach Airport is just 10 minutes from Ormond Beach, but it is likely you will have connections in Atlanta both coming and going. Orlando International Airport is 1 hour 20 minutes drive from Ormond Beach. Jacksonville International Airport is 1 hour 40 minutes drive from Ormond Beach.

If you want to sightsee, it is recommended that you rent a car. There is a lot to see and do - you can even drive on the beach! Most people like to have their own transportation.

Depending on our schedule, we may be able to arrange transportation for you to and from the classes if you do not rent a car. Please confirm this with Jane or Patrick prior to arriving in Daytona Beach.

If you are driving in, click here to go to Mapquest for driving directions and mileage. http://www.mapquest.com/

Things to do in and near Daytona Beach -

Main Street Daytona Beach - lots of tourist shops and biker stores. There s an arcade and some historical beachside buildings for cool photo opportunities.

Daytona International Speedway - Where the Daytona 500 celebrates racing and racecar drivers. The racing museum has lots of historical photographs of the racing industry and Daytona Beach, actual race cars, and fun interactive displays for race fans of all ages.

Galleria del Arte - that's right - it's Patricks and my place! We represent about 28 artists - some of them you'll know if you're in the portrait photography industry. Amazing talent and great buys on their art! We also carry jewelry, gourmet chocolate, fine gift items, sculpture, note cards and (almost) wine!

St. Augustine - is just a 45 minute drive north of Ormond Beach. An enchanting historical Spanish settlement filled with artists, fun shopping and great eating experiences. I like to spend occasional weekends at one of the excellent Bed and Breakfasts and have taken some of my favorite photographs there.

St. Augustine Outlet Malls - on both sides of Interstate 95! Stop by the office for fresh discount booklets and save significant money on brand name products!

Cape Canaveral Space Center - is just a 45 minute drive south of Ormond Beach. It's incredibly interesting and informative - everyone in the family will enjoy the visit there!

Daytona Beach Flea Market - for real - it's HUGE - you can buy anything from fresh squeezed orange juice to vacation homes there. Only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday. People come in on busses!

The Beach - Bring your suntan lotion, a good hat, and get ready to relax. You can drive on parts of the beach, or visit areas where cars are not allowed. You'll find me under my umbrella, sipping an iced latte and making calls at least a couple of mornings a week - life is good here!

Clothing
Ormond Beach is hot in the summer and cool in the winter. It's a very casual town, and "dressy casual" is appropriate for even the best restaurants and nightclubs. Most people will wear shorts and sandals to class in the summer and comfortable jeans and sneakers in the winter. Bring a swimsuit - the water is great for bodysurfing!

Other
Bring suntan lotion, a hat and sunglasses. If you get sunburned, you'll look like a tourist!
